Udaipur, March 26 (Udaipur Kiran): A musical evening in the City of Lakes turned memorable on Thursday as renowned Bollywood singer Anuradha Paudwal captivated the audience with her timeless voice during a grand Bollywood Night. The event, held at Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal, saw people of all age groups enjoying a nostalgic journey through iconic Hindi film songs.
Organised on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary of late Indira Murdia, the programme was jointly hosted by Indira Enterprises, Kashti Foundation and USM Group. Entry for the public was free, and the venue was packed by 7 pm with enthusiastic attendees.
The evening began with a welcome address by Indira Enterprises Director Dr. Ajay Murdia, along with Neetij Murdia, Kshitij Murdia, Kashti Foundation founder Shraddha Murdia, Aastha Murdia, and Dr. H.S. Bhui of USM Group.
Anuradha Paudwal enthralled the audience with a mix of classic and popular songs. As she performed the hit track ‘Tamma Tamma Loge’ from the 1990 film Thanedaar, the crowd stood up and joined her in singing. Songs like ‘Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi Mein Aana’ and ‘Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas’ from Aashiqui received an equally energetic response, especially from the youth.
She continued to win hearts with ‘Adayein Bhi Hain Mohabbat Bhi Hai’ from Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin and also rendered ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’. The first half of the programme concluded with an award distribution ceremony.
During the second half, the audience welcomed the singer with chants of her name. She began with ‘Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai’ from the 1972 film Shor, with the entire audience joining in. Songs like ‘Yeh Sama Sama Hai Yeh Pyar Ka’ from Jab Jab Phool Khile and ‘Rahe Na Rahe Hum’ from Mamta created a nostalgic atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening was her performance of ‘Bahut Pyar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam’ from the 1991 blockbuster Saajan, which drew thunderous applause. She also performed ‘Saanson Ki Zarurat Hai’.
The event was supported by members of Kashti Foundation and USM Group, including Kapil Paliwal, Dr. Chitrasen, Kunal Mehta, Urvashi Singhvi, Lata Bhandari, Sanjay Verma, Dr. Seema Singh, Vipin Kawadia, Umesh Manwani, Tinku Chhabra and Abhay Banthia.
Lifetime Achievement Award Presented
Dr. Ajay Murdia informed that the ‘Indira Murdia Lifetime Achievement Award’ was presented during the event under the joint aegis of Indira Enterprises and Vigyan Samiti. The first award was conferred on former Indian politician Deepak Voraji for his outstanding political services. He was honoured with a citation and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. The award will now be given annually at the national level.
Valet Parking Facility Provided
Organisers also arranged valet parking at the venue, providing convenience to attendees who otherwise faced challenges in finding parking space during such large events.
Upcoming Event on March 27
Shraddha Murdia announced that on March 27, a musical presentation based on the works of Bollywood filmmaker Indra Kumar will be held. Entry will be free but through passes. A special attraction will be a 15-member police band ‘Harmony of Pines’ from Himachal Pradesh, performing in Udaipur for the first time.
