Udaipur : A manager at the Oberoi Udaivilas hotel in Udaipur, India, has filed a complaint with the police against a man who allegedly defrauded the hotel of 20 lakh rupees (approximately $26,000).
The manager, Ravinder Singh, said that the man, Shahenshah Sharif, booked three rooms at the hotel on January 6, 2024. He checked in on January 8 and checked out on January 11.
Sharif presented the hotel with a receipt showing that he had paid 11 lakh rupees (approximately $13,000) online for the rooms. He also purchased jewelry from the hotel for 6 lakh rupees (approximately $8,000).
On January 11, Sharif left the hotel, claiming that he was going to the hospital. He never returned.
The hotel staff contacted Sharif’s companions, who said that they had also tried to reach him, but he was not answering his phone. They said that Sharif had told them that he was in Udaipur to get married.
The hotel staff checked Sharif’s bank account and found that he had not made any online payments to the hotel.
In total, Sharif owes the hotel 13 lakh rupees (approximately $16,000) for the rooms and 6 lakh rupees (approximately $8,000) for the jewelry.
