Why Chest Pain Happens in Winter and Ayurvedic Remedies

New Delhi: During winter, changes in the environment affect the entire body, requiring special care. Many people often complain of mild chest pain and heaviness in this season. This discomfort is not always a sign of heart disease but can result from stiffness caused by cold weather that starts in the chest and can affect the whole body. Understanding why chest tightness occurs in winter and how to relieve it is important.

Cold weather causes the blood vessels in the body to contract. The lungs also tighten due to the chill, and cold air increases mucus in the chest. This can lead to symptoms like chest pain, difficulty in breathing, trouble speaking, and a feeling of tightness. These symptoms affect people of all ages, from children to adults.

Ayurveda offers simple and effective solutions to avoid chest tightness. Those with weak immunity are more prone to this problem. Such individuals often experience repeated fevers, persistent mucus issues, and poor digestion during winter. To alleviate these symptoms, drinking lukewarm water mixed with honey in the morning helps loosen mucus and soothes the throat.

Another helpful remedy is gentle chest massage. Heating mustard oil with garlic cloves, ajwain (carom seeds), and cloves, then massaging the chest and shoulders with this mixture before bedtime can keep the body warm and reduce pain.

Steam inhalation is also an easy and effective way to relieve chest tightness. Taking steam twice daily and inhaling it deeply through the mouth helps loosen mucus and relaxes lung muscles.

Additionally, consuming Ayurvedic powders like Sitopaladi Churna, Talisadi Churna, or Trikatu Churna can keep the body warm and strengthen digestion.
