Jaipur, March 9 – Rajasthan is set to witness another shift in weather during Holi celebrations, with cloudy skies and light showers expected on Dhulandi. On Sunday, temperatures in 19 cities across the state surpassed 35°C, with Barmer nearing the 40°C mark. The rising heat has already started making its presence felt, with only mild coolness lingering during morning and evening hours.

Temperature Soars Across the State
According to Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center, Rajasthan is expected to experience dry weather for the next three to four days. However, between March 13 and 15, a weak Western Disturbance could lead to partial cloud cover and light drizzles in North-West Rajasthan, while the rest of the state will remain dry.
Currently, maximum temperatures across Rajasthan are recorded 2 to 5 degrees above normal levels, and over the next 48 hours, both day and night temperatures are expected to rise by another 2 to 4 degrees.
On March 10-11, Barmer and nearby regions are forecasted to hit 40-41°C, 5-6 degrees above normal, making it the hottest area in Rajasthan. Cities like Jalore and Jaisalmer experienced warm gusts of wind in the afternoon, intensifying the heat. In other major cities such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Udaipur, maximum temperatures have also been recorded above the seasonal average.
Rajasthan’s Hottest and Warmest Regions
According to the Meteorological Department, several cities saw their daytime temperatures exceed 35°C, including:
📌 Ajmer, Bhilwara, Vanasthali, Chittorgarh, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu, Nagaur, Baran, Dungarpur, Jalore, Sirohi, Dausa, Lunkaransar, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, and Pali.
Among them, Barmer recorded the highest temperature of 39.4°C, with a minimum temperature of 22.1°C. Phalodi also recorded nighttime temperatures above 20°C, making it one of the warmest places in the state.
In all cities across Rajasthan, daytime temperatures have now surpassed 30°C, with the dry spell expected to continue until March 12. Additionally, temperatures may rise by another 2°C before any relief sets in.
Dhulandi Weather Outlook: Cloud Cover but Minimal Rain Chances
On Dhulandi, light cloud cover is expected over northern Rajasthan, particularly in Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts, due to a weak Western Disturbance. However, the chances of rain remain low at the moment.
In Jaipur, temperatures rose noticeably on Sunday under bright sunshine, despite the presence of light clouds throughout the day. Jaipur’s maximum temperature reached 33.3°C, while the minimum temperature stood at 18.2°C.
Although Jaipur still experiences mild coolness during mornings and evenings, Holi festivities will likely see rising temperatures. Over the past 24 hours, Jaipur recorded a 1.3°C increase in daytime temperatures and a 2.5°C rise in nighttime temperatures.
