Ahmedabad : With the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season underway, Punjab Kings are all set to kick off their campaign against Gujarat Titans on Monday evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Under the leadership of head coach Ricky Ponting and new captain Shreyas Iyer, the franchise is aiming to make a strong statement in the new season.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Assistant Coach Brad Haddin shared insights into the team’s mindset and preparation, emphasizing a bold and aggressive approach to the game.
Bold, Brave, and Confident Cricket
“Our focus is on making sure the players walk onto the field with complete confidence,” Haddin said. “We had a fantastic training camp in Dharamsala, which gave us valuable time to connect with our Indian players and understand their strengths better.”
Haddin further underlined the team’s intent to play fast-paced, fearless cricket, backed by a squad filled with a mix of youth and experience. “We want our players to be brave and adaptable to any situation. This is a new group with skill sets suited for all conditions,” he added.
Opening Combination Still Undecided
When asked about Punjab Kings’ opening pair and the challenge of facing Gujarat Titans’ pace duo Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj, Haddin remained guarded.
“We’re still finalizing our opening combination,” he said. “We have options like Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis, who have both performed that role well in the past. Our priority is to get the right balance.”
Leadership and Team Culture Under Shreyas Iyer
Haddin praised the impact of captain Shreyas Iyer, highlighting the positive team environment and unity built under his leadership.
“Our team culture has been shaped by strong leadership. Shreyas is a motivated and successful player in this format, and he has brought the squad together,” Haddin said. “The players and coaching staff are aligned in our vision. We are playing as one cohesive unit, and that’s a reflection of the values and habits our captain promotes.”
