Volkanovski Defeats Evloev by TKO to Retain UFC Featherweight Title
Alexander Volkanovski retained his UFC featherweight title with a second-round TKO of Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.

ABU DHABI, Oct 25: UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski defeated Movsar Evloev by TKO at 4:54 in the second round of their title fight at UFC 333 on Saturday, held at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Volkanovski ended Evloev’s unbeaten streak of 20-0 by delivering a series of powerful punches that forced the referee to stop the bout. The champion wobbled Evloev before delivering the final blows, demonstrating his striking prowess late in the round.
In his post-fight comments, Volkanovski praised Evloev, stating, “He’s a great fighter. He was undefeated for a reason. Nothing but respect to him. But yeah, it feels good to get a finish.” This victory also marked Volkanovski’s ninth title-fight win, surpassing Jose Aldo for the most in UFC featherweight history.
Prior to this match, Volkanovski reclaimed the championship in April 2025 against Diego Lopes and defended it successfully twice, reaffirming his status as one of the best in the division. The 38-year-old expressed interest in continuing his career, saying, “If I didn’t take too much damage we’d probably keep going.”
For Evloev, the defeat was significant after a lengthy unbeaten run. He stated, “It was a terrible fight… Alex is a great champion, and I’m glad to be here to share the cage with him.” The Russian fighter had built his reputation on his wrestling and grappling skills, but ultimately found it difficult to impose his style against Volkanovski.
The co-main event included a bantamweight title fight, where Petr Yan defended his championship against Merab Dvalishvili, winning by unanimous decision. This card was part of a significant night in UFC history, emphasizing the high stakes and the level of competition in the octagon.
UFC 333 concluded with Volkanovski solidifying his legacy and Evloev looking to regroup as he learns from this challenging experience in the fight game.
