Udaipur, February 8 – Udaipur has added another feather to its cap with the appointment of retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Indrapal Singh Matharu as the Chairman of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) for Coal Mining and Thermal Power under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. Matharu is the first IFS officer from Rajasthan to be appointed to this prestigious position.

The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Dr. Amandeep Garg, officially announced Matharu’s appointment through an official letter. Matharu expressed his gratitude and shared that the committee consists of 13 members from different states, all of whom are experts in their respective domains.
As the Chairman of the EAC, Matharu and his team will be responsible for evaluating and granting environmental clearances for coal mining and thermal power plant projects across India. Their role will be pivotal in ensuring environmental sustainability while promoting energy production and industrial growth.
