Jalpaiguri, April 20 : Trinamool Congress leader and tea industrialist Krishna Kumar Kalyani passed away at a private nursing home in Jalpaiguri late Tuesday night. He was 68. Kalyani was admitted to a nursing home in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday afternoon. There was a talk of taking him to Mumbai for treatment on Wednesday, but before that he left the world late in the night Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over his death. Taking to her twitter, Banerjee said, “I extend my profound grief at the untimely demise of Krishna Kumar Kalyani, a leading Tea industrialist from North Bengal, early today.” “ I knew him well as a leading face of Ma Mati Manush in Dooars and extend my sincere condolences to his family and followers,” she added. According to sources, his last rites will be performed on Thursday. BM KK
