Government Committed to Tribal Area Development: Tribal Regional Development Minister

– Tribal Development Fund Increased from ₹1500 Crore to ₹1750 Crore

Jaipur/Udaipur, February 28: Rajasthan’s Tribal Regional Development Minister, Shri Babulal Kharadi, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of tribal regions. The state administration is actively working towards the comprehensive development of Scheduled Areas, MADA regions, MADA Clusters, Dispersed Tribe Plan Areas, and Sahariya Primitive Tribe Areas through various initiatives.

While addressing the State Legislative Assembly during discussions on Demand Number-30 of the Tribal Regional Development Department, Shri Kharadi emphasized the sacrifices of tribal leaders in India’s freedom struggle, cultural preservation, and religious protection. He highlighted the historical contributions of the tribal community and assured them that the government is committed to giving these tribal heroes their rightful place in history.

Tribal Development Fund Increased to ₹1750 Crore

In a significant boost to tribal welfare, the government has increased the Tribal Development Fund from ₹1500 crore to ₹1750 crore. Shri Kharadi assured the Assembly that the government would ensure the timely implementation of budgetary promises, including enhanced infrastructure, welfare programs, and employment opportunities for tribal communities.

Preserving Tribal Heritage

The government is actively working to preserve tribal history and culture. Last year’s budget announced the construction of memorials for Dungar Baranda, Bansia Charpota, and a Veer Balika Kalibai Museum. The minister stated that these projects are currently underway, allowing future generations to appreciate the rich legacy of tribal warriors.

Legislative Assembly Approves ₹3.61 Lakh Crore for Tribal Development

Following an extensive debate in the Legislative Assembly, the House approved ₹3,61,14,76,03,000 (₹3.61 lakh crore) in grant demands for the Tribal Regional Development Department through a voice vote.

Innovative Initiatives for Tribal Development

Shri Kharadi outlined several innovative schemes introduced for tribal welfare, including:

  • Sanchar Setu (Communication Bridge) for better connectivity
  • Amrit Kalash Yojana for economic empowerment
  • Banphool – Tribal Design Studio to promote indigenous tribal art
  • Lacrosse Sports Initiative to encourage tribal youth participation
  • Workers’ Monitoring System for better oversight of construction projects

Hostel Superintendent Cadre Formation: Recruitment for 470 Posts

In a major step toward improving tribal student hostels, the department has initiated the formation of the Hostel Superintendent Cadre. Recruitment for 470 superintendent positions (both male and female) has been proposed under the Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services (Common Eligibility Examination) Rules, 2022. The proposal is currently under review by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board.

Holistic Development of Tribal Faith Centers

Shri Kharadi emphasized the government’s focus on the development of tribal religious and cultural sites. Over ₹16 crore has been sanctioned for the revitalization of Sitabari in Baran, Kamalnath Mahadev in Udaipur, and Jawarmata Temple. These initiatives aim to preserve and promote the rich spiritual heritage of tribal communities.

Skill Development and Employment for Tribal Youth

Employment generation remains a key focus of the government. Over 4,697 tribal youth have already received skill-based vocational training, equipping them with better job prospects and self-employment opportunities.

Tribal Welfare Boosted Through Van Dhan Centers

Shri Kharadi highlighted the success of Van Dhan Kendras, which support tribal farmers and forest produce collectors. Currently, 530 Van Dhan Kendras in nine districts have benefitted over 1.53 lakh tribal members by enhancing their agricultural and forest produce marketing.

Sahariya Primitive Tribes Given Special Attention

The Sahariya, Kathodi, and Khairwa communities are receiving targeted support. Under PM Janman Yojana, the government has sanctioned 17 new Multi-Purpose Centers in the Sahariya-dominated Baran district. Additionally, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Federation (TRIFED) and the Tribal Affairs Ministry have established 51 Van Dhan Development Centers in the region.

Food Security for Marginalized Tribes

To combat malnutrition among vulnerable tribes, the government is providing free food essentials to over 1.3 lakh individuals. Each person receives:

  • 500 grams of pulses per month
  • 500 milliliters of cooking oil
  • 250 grams of desi ghee

Government’s Vision for Tribal Development

Shri Kharadi assured the tribal community that the government is dedicated to their upliftment through education, employment, health, and cultural preservation initiatives. The enhanced budget allocations, innovative programs, and welfare measures reinforce the state’s commitment to ensuring a brighter future for Rajasthan’s tribal population.
