Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has once again revised the validity of several prepaid plans, effectively increasing tariffs without changing the plan prices. While telecom operators are not openly acknowledging tariff hikes, the reductions in validity clearly indicate rising costs across the industry. BSNL’s widely used ₹107 prepaid plan is the latest to see a validity cut, along with other key vouchers.

BSNL ₹107 Plan Voucher
The ₹107 plan earlier offered:
200 minutes of voice calls
Unlimited data (speed reduced to 40 Kbps after 3GB)
28-day validity
BSNL has now reduced the validity from 28 days to 22 days, without altering the MRP. This plan originally carried 35 days validity, which then dropped to 30 days, 28 days, and now just 22 days.
Secondary Number Users Affected
The ₹107 plan has long been a favourite among users who keep BSNL as a secondary SIM due to its low cost and reasonable validity. With the latest revision, many may begin considering BSNL as a primary SIM, especially as the telco expands Pan-India 4G services on indigenous technology.
BSNL ₹147 STV
The ₹147 Special Tariff Voucher now offers:
Unlimited calling (Local/STD/Roaming)
Unlimited data (speed drops to 40 Kbps after 5GB)
24-day validity (reduced from 25 days)
Earlier this month, the data benefit was cut from 10GB to 5GB, marking the second downgrade for this STV.
BSNL ₹153 Plan Voucher
The ₹153 plan includes:
Unlimited voice calls (Local/STD) to all networks, including MTNL areas
Unlimited data (40 Kbps after 1GB/day)
100 SMS/day
24-day validity (previously 25 days; earlier 26 days)
This plan remains popular for users seeking short-term validity with calling and daily data.
BSNL ₹197 Prepaid Plan
BSNL’s ₹197 plan has also seen a significant validity cut:
300 minutes of voice calling
Unlimited data (40 Kbps after 4GB)
100 SMS
42-day validity (reduced from 48 days; originally 54 days)
The continuous reduction in validity across BSNL’s most-used prepaid plans highlights the broader industry trend of creeping tariff hikes. While the base prices remain unchanged, users now get fewer days of service, reflecting growing operational and network upgrade costs as BSNL rolls out its nationwide 4G network.
