
Banswara-Dungarpur : The 16th district-level sports tournament of the Gujarati Mewara Suthar Samaj for the Dungarpur-Banswara region concluded on a high note on Monday at Father De Bari village. The event saw spirited participation from eight Chokhlas (subgroups) of the community.
Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, Joint Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Bhogilal Suthar, District President of Dungarpur, presided over the event. Distinguished guests included Ravindra Suthar, Mavji Lal Suthar, Vidya Shankar Suthar, Dharmendra Suthar, Vasudev Suthar, Nathu Lal Suthar, Vinod Suthar, Pankaj Suthar, and Bhagwati Lal Suthar, who shared the dais.
Cricket Tournament Highlights
A total of 21 teams participated in the cricket tournament, with the thrilling final match played between Ghati Utar B and Chhast A. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, Ghati Utar B emerged victorious.
The chief guest, Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity and respect among the youth. He also advocated for the inclusion of women-centric competitions to encourage broader participation. Additionally, he proposed the development of a mobile application to provide comprehensive information about the Suthar community.
The event was organized under the aegis of Chokhlas including Chhast, Sagwara, Tarpot, and Hathai. All players were honored for their participation, and awards were presented to winners, runners-up, and standout performers, including Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
