Ranchi, May 4: A tragic incident occurred in a private school hostel located in the Asanabad area of Koderma district, Jharkhand, where a 10th-grade student reportedly committed suicide on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Udit Yadav, a resident of Lakkhibagi.
Family members have raised serious concerns regarding the management of the school following this incident. Udit’s elder brother, Aditya Kumar, stated that he visited the school twice on Sunday to meet his brother. After their meeting around 5:30 PM, they received a call shortly after informing them that Udit was unwell. Upon rushing to the school, they found Udit lying dead on the floor of his hostel room.
According to the school management, Udit had hanged himself using a towel in his room, after which he was taken to the sadar hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. The family claims that Udit had moved into the hostel about five months ago to prepare for the upcoming 10th-grade board exams and asserts that he would not have taken such a drastic step.
They are demanding a fair investigation into the matter and have accused the school management of negligence. The family argues that such an incident occurring in the presence of numerous students and staff raises several doubts. On the other hand, Pramod Kumar, the school director, mentioned that Udit had been mentally distressed for the past four to five days and did not want to continue studying in the hostel.
Upon receiving the news, the police from the Tilaiya station arrived at the scene and took the body for post-mortem examination. Police officials have stated that the exact cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem report is received. Currently, the police are thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case.
