Jaipur, March 21, 2025 – In a major crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior General Manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and a Deputy General Manager of a Mumbai-based private company in Rajasthan’s Sikar district while accepting a bribe of ₹2.4 lakh.

CBI Catches Officials Red-Handed
According to the CBI, the bribe was allegedly offered by the DGM of the private firm to the senior PGCIL officer for clearing bills related to a contract awarded to the private company by the public sector enterprise. The transaction reportedly took place at a pre-decided location in Sikar, where the CBI laid a trap and apprehended the official red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Case Details and Raids
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against six accused, including:
- The Senior GM of PGCIL posted in Ajmer
- The Deputy GM of the Mumbai-based private company
- Four other company representatives
- Additional unidentified persons
The CBI alleges that the public servant, in collusion with the private company’s representatives, was processing and approving bills related to the awarded contract in exchange for illegal gratification.
Following the arrests, the CBI conducted searches at residential and office premises in Sikar, Jaipur, and Mohali, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents and digital devices.
Growing Crackdown on Corruption
This incident marks another significant move in the CBI’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on corruption in public sector undertakings, particularly in high-value contract management and billing operations. The agency has reiterated its commitment to rooting out unethical practices and has warned public servants against indulging in bribery or misusing their official positions.
