Jaipur, March 21, 2025 – With the impact of the recent Western Disturbance fading, Rajasthan is set to experience a sharp rise in temperatures over the coming days. Weather experts have predicted that by the end of March, many cities across the state may record day temperatures exceeding 40°C.
Rising Heat Across Cities
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), nine cities in the state recorded day temperatures above 35°C on Friday, while eight cities witnessed night temperatures above 20°C.
- Barmer was the hottest during the day at 37.6°C.
- Phalodi topped the night temperature chart at 23.8°C.
Cities such as Chittorgarh, Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jalore, and Dausa crossed the 35°C mark during the day. Meanwhile, Dholpur, Jaipur, Phalodi, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Dabok, Barmer, and Bhilwara registered nighttime temperatures above 20°C.
Though the state remained largely dry, light rainfall was reported at a few isolated places on Friday night.
Forecast: Dry Weather Ahead
According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Jaipur Meteorological Centre:
- The weather in Rajasthan is expected to remain predominantly dry for the next 4-5 days.
- From March 23 onward, daytime temperatures will likely be 2-3°C above normal in the first week.
- During the second week, temperatures are expected to hover around normal levels.
- The minimum temperatures are likely to remain around seasonal averages till March 30.
On Friday, humidity levels across the state varied between 10% and 80%, depending on the region.
Jaipur Weather Update
In Jaipur, clear skies and sunshine contributed to a slight rise in temperatures:
- Maximum temperature: 34°C
- Minimum temperature: 20.8°C (up by 1.6°C from the previous day)
With the Western Disturbance waning, Jaipur and surrounding regions can expect a gradual temperature surge starting Saturday.
World Meteorological Day Celebrations
To mark World Meteorological Day on March 24, the Jaipur Meteorological Centre will host a technical exhibition.
- The event will showcase advanced meteorological instruments such as Doppler Radar and Automated Weather Stations (AWS).
- Students and the general public will be invited to learn more about weather forecasting technologies.
