Samsung One UI 6.1.1 update hints at adding video AI features to Galaxy smartphones

According to a new leak, Samsung may be preparing to launch another artificial intelligence (AI)-based feature later this year.

A well-informed source has revealed that the company is planning to introduce a feature called artificial intelligence in the One UI 6.1.1 update. It could be part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI feature set, which launched in January and offers features like Circle to Search, Live Translation and Comments.

Specifically, Google and Samsung are working together to develop new artificial intelligence capabilities for the Android ecosystem.

According to X Advisor (formerly known as Twitter) Ice Universe, the South Korean tech giant is working on a video AI feature that it plans to introduce with the One UI 6.1.1 update. The update is expected to be announced at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to be unveiled. We don’t know anything about what this new feature does, but the name gives a clue.

The tech giant has added a productive artificial intelligence photo editing feature to the Galaxy S24 series, allowing users to resize, delete and reposition objects in images. However, video editing does not yet have such a function.

Video AI can refer to AI-based editing tools that can perform the same edits that photo editors do to videos. Another possibility is to generate text-to-video using artificial intelligence, but this technology is still in its early stages and companies like OpenAI are still working on the Sora model.

However, this is just speculation and whether such a feature is actually in development, the details will only be revealed at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to take place in July.

Currently, Samsung users with Galaxy AI-enabled smartphones can use Circle for easy visual search, Chat Assist to improve typed messages, and Note Assist in the Notes app to summarize, translate, and format text.

Earlier this month, Samsung confirmed that all of the company’s 2022 flagship devices will feature Galaxy AI in One UI 6.1 starting in May.
