Samsung is gearing up for a major launch in early July 2025, where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch8 series alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. While anticipation grows, new reports suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Watch8 models will continue to be powered by the Exynos W1000, the same flagship chip found in last year’s models.

Exynos W1000: Still a Leader in Smartwatch Performance
Although it’s a familiar component, the Exynos W1000 remains one of the most advanced smartwatch processors available. The chip features a penta-core CPU setup—four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 1.5 GHz and one high-performance Cortex-A78 core operating at up to 1.6 GHz. It also houses a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU and utilizes LPDDR5 RAM, delivering top-tier performance for smartwatch users.
Crucially, the W1000 is built using Samsung’s 3nm GAA (Gate-All-Around) fabrication process, making it highly power-efficient—an essential trait for wearable devices where battery life is paramount.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic May Return with Refined Design
The Galaxy Watch8 lineup is expected to reintroduce the Classic variant, which has been spotted in recent leaks. The Watch8 Classic is rumored to feature a “squircle” (square-circle hybrid) case design, resembling the Galaxy Watch Ultra in aesthetic. According to leaked dimensions, the Classic model could measure around 46 x 46.5 x 14.2 mm and offer a 1.5-inch display.
Battery capacity is expected to be 450 mAh, ensuring all-day use even with more demanding tasks such as GPS tracking and continuous health monitoring. As for software, users can look forward to One UI 8 Watch, which will be based on Wear OS 6, promising updated features, smoother performance, and better integration with the broader Galaxy ecosystem.
Same Chip, New Experience?
Although Samsung is reusing the Exynos W1000, improvements in software and design could deliver a fresh experience. With the Galaxy Watch8 series possibly launching in multiple sizes and finishes, and Samsung doubling down on health features and ecosystem integration, users may still find compelling reasons to upgrade.
As the launch window draws closer, more details are expected to emerge. All eyes are now on July’s Galaxy Unpacked event for the full reveal.
