Rumoured Galaxy S25 series to arrive in January 2025, reportedly. We have seen several chipsets lately to power the future Galaxy S25 series. The latest rumor is that the US variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking site with a Snapdragon chipset. South Korean brand was earlier reported to pack Exynos chipsets for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup in all markets. Then separate reports told us that we should expect Snapdragon SoCs for new models in all countries.
A Samsung handset has been discovered on Geekbench with the model number SM-S938U. The listing is believed to be that of Galaxy S25 Ultra quite similar to the predecessor model Galaxy S24 Ultra model having the model number SM-S928U. The model number here carries a ‘U’ which denotes the device to the US region.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Scores Exceptional Results in Multi-Core Testing
The Geekbench listing shows 3,069 points in the testing using a single core and 9,080 points with multi-core testing. As per this listing, this device will most probably be accompanied by 10.54GB of RAM; however, it means the actual memory which will be accompanied will be 12GB.
In addition, the listing also indicates that an octa-core chipset under the codename ‘Sun’ will power the device. The codename is reportedly linked to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. It features two Prime CPU cores capped at a maximum clock speed of 4.19GHz and six cores capped at 2.90GHz.
Of course, the top-end frequency is not as high as what is claimed for the fabled Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which sports a maximum-clock speed of 4.32GHz for its performance cores and 3.53GHz for its efficiency cores. Again, these may be tuned up before launch.
The model of the Galaxy S25 Ultra tested here comes with Android 15 out of the box. The sample was published on the website on September 24.
It was reported that Samsung would equip the Exynos 2500 chipsets in the Galaxy S25 series initially. We later read that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 across the globe. Samsung chose a dual-chip policy for this year’s regular Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. They are bringing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC to the US, and they are bringing Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2400 to most other regions, including India.
