Users Face a Major Setback as Jio Revises Data Add-On Plan Validity
New Delhi, January 31 – Reliance Jio has once again dealt a blow to its users by reducing the validity of its ₹69 and ₹139 data booster plans. The telecom giant has made significant changes to these data add-on packs, shifting their validity from being aligned with the user’s base plan to standalone validity, meaning they will now remain active for a limited period, irrespective of the base plan’s duration.
This move impacts Jio users who previously enjoyed data add-on packs with validity matching their active base plans. Now, these data boosters will expire within a fixed short duration, limiting their long-term usability.

Breakdown of Jio’s Revised Data Booster Plans
₹69 Data Booster Plan:
- Data Allowance: 6GB high-speed data
- New Validity: Only 7 days
- Conditions: This plan will work only if the user has an active Jio base prepaid plan.
₹139 Data Booster Plan:
- Data Allowance: 12GB high-speed data
- New Validity: Only 7 days (Previously, it lasted as long as the base plan)
- Conditions: This add-on requires an active Jio base prepaid plan to function.
These two data booster packs were previously the only add-ons that extended validity based on the user’s base plan. However, with the latest update, they now function independently, offering just one week of validity.
Jio’s Cheapest Data Vouchers Still Available
Jio still provides some of the most affordable data booster options, including:
- ₹11 Data Voucher – Valid for one hour
- ₹19 Data Voucher – 1GB data with 1-day validity
These vouchers remain available for Jio users across India, providing short-term data solutions at competitive prices.
Impact on Jio Users
- Shorter Validity: Users will now need to recharge more frequently, increasing overall costs.
- Less Flexibility: The new validity structure limits long-term data usability, impacting heavy data consumers.
- Additional Financial Burden: Users who relied on these boosters for extended validity will now pay more for the same benefits.
Reliance Jio’s latest move could affect customer loyalty, as users may reconsider their data recharge strategies or explore alternative options. With competitors like Airtel and Vi (Vodafone-Idea) actively expanding their data plans, Jio subscribers may start looking for more cost-effective and flexible data solutions elsewhere.
