Regional Forest Officer and Forester Arrested While Taking Bribe of Rs 20,000
Jaipur, 23 August (Udaipur Kiran). The Banswara team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out an operation on Saturday and arrested Shantilal Chawla, Regional Forest Officer (First Forest Range) of Dungra Headquarters, Sajjangarh, Banswara district, along with Forester Ladji Garasia (Naka Tambesra Forest Range) while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

Additional Director General of Police, Smita Srivastava, stated that the ACB Banswara team received a complaint from an applicant. The complaint alleged that the Regional Forest Officer and Forester were demanding a 15 percent commission—amounting to Rs 80,000—for passing bills related to nursery improvement and other repair works carried out by the applicant’s firm in the forest range. On 22 August, the bribe demand was verified. During verification, Forester Ladji Garasia agreed to accept an advance bribe of Rs 20,000 on behalf of Regional Forest Officer Shantilal Chawla, before processing the bill payments.
Acting on this, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Meena from ACB Banswara, a trap was laid and Forester Ladji Garasia (Naka Tambesra Forest Range) was arrested while accepting the bribe. Regional Forest Officer (First Forest Range) Shantilal Chawla was also arrested for his involvement in the bribery case.
