Farah Khan Faces Backlash for Rejecting Tilak at Event
Filmmaker Farah Khan is trending on social media after refusing to accept a traditional tilak during an event, leading to widespread criticism.
Mumbai, October 17 (Udaipur Kiran) : Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has found herself at the center of social media trolling after an incident at a recent event in Mumbai. Reports indicate that she declined to receive a traditional tilak on her forehead, sparking criticism from netizens.
A video circulating online shows Khan being welcomed with an ‘aarti’ plate in a hotel lobby. However, when a staff member approaches her with the tilak, she refuses, opting instead to have it applied on her wrist. This moment has ignited a storm of reactions on social media, with many users expressing their disapproval.
One user commented, “Farah Khan seems offended when a woman applies a tilak as a welcome gesture. It’s ironic that she wears nail polish, which is considered haram in Islam, but objects to a tilak, a Hindu tradition.” Another critic questioned her presence at such events if she was aware of the customary practices involved, suggesting that she seeks controversy.
While some users have pointed out her public persona of secularism, they questioned why she turned down the tilak. As of now, details about the event and its location remain unclear.
Farah Khan is a well-known figure in Indian cinema, having choreographed numerous songs across Bollywood and South Indian films. She made her directorial debut in 2004 with “Main Hoon Na” and went on to direct successful films like “Om Shanti Om,” “Tees Maar Khan,” and “Happy New Year.”
