Udaipur, May 5 — The city of Udaipur is set to witness spiritual fervor and devotional celebrations as preparations for the 9th Shri Shyam Mahotsav, organized by the Shri Khatu Shyam Mitra Mandal Trust, move into their final phase. The grand event will be held from May 8 to May 10 at Fateh School Ground, with Bhoomi Pujan scheduled for Monday morning at 9 AM.
Bhoomi Pujan to Mark the Beginning of Festive Setup
According to Trust members Sunil Bansal and Shubham Agarwal, the auspicious Bhoomi Pujan ceremony will be conducted with Vedic rituals led by Jagdish Chaubisa and his team. All members of the Trust along with their families are expected to attend. Following the Bhoomi Pujan, decoration work for the Shri Shyam Darbar and stage setup will begin. Local artisans from Udaipur will start the initial work, after which a team of Bengali artisans from Kolkata will arrive to complete the elaborate décor.
Musical Devotion and Star Performers to Grace the Mahotsav
This year’s Mahotsav promises to be a soul-stirring devotional experience with renowned bhajan singer Nandu Maharaj being the headline performer. Other notable singers including Naresh Saini from Gurugram, Bantu Bhaiya from Najafgarh, Mahavir Agarwal, Vasu, and Mayur Rastogi from Delhi will also present devotional performances.
Highlights of Shri Shyam Mahotsav 2025

May 8: The Mahotsav will commence with a grand Nishan Yatra, expected to feature over 1,100 Shyam devotees. The journey will start from Fateh School Ground at 6 PM and proceed through major city roads. For the first time in Udaipur, a Shri Khatu Shyam Nagar Yatra (city procession) will also be held alongside the Nishan Yatra. Prior registration is mandatory for participation.
May 9: A special Mehendi ceremony will take place, where women will apply mehendi in the name of Baba Khatu Shyam, celebrating the divine spirit through art and devotion.
May 10: The main devotional event — Shri Shyam Kirtan — will begin at 7:15 PM and continue till midnight or as per divine will. A community feast (Bhandara) will be organized on both May 8 and May 10.
