Tourists Demand Compensation, Police Called to Scene

The power failure occurred between 3 PM and 5:30 PM, leaving guests without air conditioning or basic amenities during peak afternoon heat. Despite repeated complaints to the hotel staff, the issue remained unresolved, pushing tourists to demand refunds or a complimentary stay extension.

Ambamata Police Station in-charge Mukesh Soni arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a growing commotion. According to sources, guests insisted on speaking directly with authorities, asking either for full refunds or an additional night’s stay at no cost. After discussions and police intervention, the matter was resolved amicably.

Backup Generator Fails Amidst Municipal Power Cut

Hotel staff confirmed that the main power supply had been disrupted due to an outage from the municipal corporation. In response, the hotel attempted to switch to its diesel generator (DG set), but a short circuit in the backup system delayed restoration. Technicians took nearly 150 minutes to repair the fault and resume full services.

Guests Express Disappointment Over Management

Several guests voiced their disappointment, saying the power cut disrupted their travel plans and created significant discomfort. “We expect reliable service from a hotel of this standard,” said one tourist. “Spending hours in the heat without ventilation or updates from staff was unacceptable.”

The incident has raised questions about the preparedness of premium hospitality establishments in dealing with infrastructure failures, especially during peak tourist seasons in Udaipur, a major international travel destination.
