New Delhi, May 2: The political discourse surrounding the ongoing census process in the country has intensified. Congress leader Amin Patel highlighted the ‘self-enumeration’ method, stating that citizens can now fill in their details online, making the process more transparent and convenient.
Patel explained, “This census is primarily based on the enumeration of households, where individuals will need to visit the government’s official website to enter their information. Two websites have been provided for this purpose, allowing citizens to select their state and district and respond to the questions asked. This process will make data collection more organized and quicker.”
He reiterated the demand for a caste-based census, asserting, “Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party, and the ‘India’ alliance have long been advocating for a caste-based census in the country. Representation should be proportional to the population, and having caste data is essential. The government has initiated the census process under pressure from the opposition, but including caste enumeration is crucial for its completeness.”
Patel emphasized, “Until the actual numbers of various sections of society are revealed, ensuring equal and just representation will be challenging. This is not just a political issue but a matter of social justice.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shama Mohammed expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court granting anticipatory bail to fellow party member Pawan Khera, stating, “All party members are pleased with this decision, and their trust in the judiciary has strengthened.”
