Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): In a major breakthrough against illegal narcotics trafficking, Udaipur police seized 496.89 kg of Doda Chura worth ₹1.25 crore from an Innova Crysta, following a dramatic encounter with traffickers near Gogunda. The smugglers opened 7-8 rounds of fire on the police team after their vehicle’s tyre burst during the chase.

Acting under the directions of SP Yogesh Goyal, the operation was conducted by a team led by Station House Officer Shyam Singh, under the supervision of Additional SP Gopal Swaroop Mewara and Circle Officer Suryaveer Singh. The team had set up a checkpoint near Amarchandiya Talab on Iswal-Kumbhalgarh Road on Monday evening.
Chase and Gunfire in Filmy Style
During the blockade, two Innova cars approached at high speed from Losing side. When signaled to stop, the drivers ignored the police and accelerated. Constable Yogendra Sain bravely threw a tyre breaker stick, causing the front tyres of one Innova Crysta to burst.
Despite the tyre burst, the smugglers continued to flee towards Kumbhalgarh. When the police pursued them, one of the occupants opened fire with 7-8 rounds at the police vehicle. The team responded by firing at the car’s tyres.
One Innova managed to escape towards Kumbhalgarh, but the tyre-burst vehicle was eventually intercepted near Kathar village. The traffickers abandoned the car and fled into nearby hills and forests under the cover of darkness.
Huge Drug Haul and Seizure
Upon inspection, police found 25 black plastic sacks inside the vehicle, containing 496.89 kg of Doda Chura, valued at approximately ₹1.25 crore. Multiple number plates from Rajasthan and Gujarat were also recovered, indicating an inter-state smuggling network.
The seized Innova Crysta and narcotics have been taken into custody, and a search operation is underway to arrest the absconding traffickers.
This is the second major operation in a month, reaffirming Udaipur police’s firm stance against drug smuggling in the region.
