Goa, November 28, 2025 (Udaipur Kiran): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a commemorative coin of Rs 550 denomination today at a special ceremony, “Sardh Panchshatmanotsav”, being organised on November 28, 2025, to mark the completion of 550 years of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math. The historic Vaishnav math is located in a Portuguese-era town in South Goa and is the first Vaishnav math of the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community.
According to noted coin expert and numismatist Sudhir Lunawat, the commemorative coin has been minted by the Hyderabad Mint of the Government of India. The coin weighs 35 grams and is made of an alloy comprising 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, and five per cent each of zinc and nickel.
On one side of the coin, the emblem of the 550th anniversary of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math will be engraved. At the bottom, the name “Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math” will be inscribed in English. The anniversary emblem will feature a semi-circular rising sun, within which there will be an image of the Partagali Math along with 24 ‘namas’ and a ‘dharma dand’. Above this emblem, a flying image of Lord Hanuman will be shown, with a chakra on the left and a conch on the right. On the upper edge of the coin, “Sardh Panchshatmanotsav” will be written in Hindi, while the same will appear in English on the lower edge.
On the reverse side of the coin, the Ashoka Pillar (Lion Capital) will be engraved. Below it, the denomination “550” will be written along with the rupee symbol. On both the right and left sides of the Ashoka Pillar, the word “Bharat” will be inscribed in Hindi and English.
Sudhir Lunawat said that this coin will not be released into circulation. After its unveiling by the Prime Minister, it will be made available for sale through online booking by the Hyderabad Mint. The estimated price of this Rs 550 commemorative coin is expected to be around Rs 5,500.
He also added that earlier in 2019, a commemorative coin of Rs 550 denomination was issued on the occasion of the 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
