An International Conference on High Entropy Alloys and Advanced Materials for Energy and Environmental Applications started on Thursday at Madurai Kamaraj University.

This two-day event is jointly organized by the School of Chemistry and the School of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources at the university, along with the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Tiruchi Chapter.

Approximately 300 participants from various countries are attending, including scientists, academics, industry professionals, and students, to cover advances in high-entropy alloys, functional materials, sustainable energy, and environmental protection.

The conference program includes around 200 oral and poster presentations, three plenary lectures, nine invited talks, seven presentations by MRSI awardees, and two industry-sponsored lectures. Six exhibition stalls display advanced materials and scientific instruments to enhance industry-academia interaction.

S. Arumugam, Chairman and Secretary of MRSI Tiruchi Chapter, delivered the inaugural address and released a souvenir. MRSI Awards including the Young Scientist Award and Lifetime Achievement Award were also presented during the event.

The inaugural session included speeches from Aravind Kumar Chandiran from IIT Chennai, Sudip Kumar Batabyal from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam, and Mohammad Ansari from Universiti Tenaga Nasional in Malaysia. The Registrar of Madurai Kamaraj University, Muthiah, provided the presidential address.
