Udaipur, November 28 (Udaipur Kiran): A felicitation and White Coat Ceremony for the new MBBS batch of 2025 was successfully organised at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. This year, 250 new MBBS students were formally welcomed at the institute.
Last year, 200 MBBS students were admitted at the institute. This year, the National Medical Commission (NMC) approved 250 MBBS seats, which has been described as a matter of pride for the institution. Due to improved infrastructure and staff strength, the institute has also received an increase in postgraduate (MD/MS) seats. While 158 PG seats were approved by NMC last year, approval has been granted for 220 PG students this year.
During the ceremony, Chairman Ashish Agrawal, Sheetal Agrawal and Naman Agrawal extended their best wishes to the new students for a bright future. Vice Chancellor Dr Prashant Nahar explained the importance of the White Coat to the students. College Principal Dr Suresh Goyal administered the Hippocratic Oath, in which the students pledged to serve patients with full dedication, honesty and without any discrimination, and to maintain complete confidentiality of patient information.
The students also took an oath to provide treatment according to the latest medical research throughout their lives, to never offer any medicine or treatment that could harm patients, and to seek consultation from other specialist doctors whenever required.
Registrar Dr Devendra Jain, Medical Director Dr Kamlesh Shekhawat, Superintendent Dr Sarita Kant, Senior Professors Dr P.S. Bhatnagar and Dr Chanda Mathur, along with other department heads and assistant professors, were present at the programme. Professor Dr Shreenidhi from the Department of Physiology welcomed the guests, while Dr Pranav Kumar, Head of the Forensic Medicine Department, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by the academic team and MBBS students.
