France Qualifies for Semi-Finals by Defeating Argentina

Paris, August 3 (Udaipur Kiran): Thanks to a solitary goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta, France defeated Argentina 1-0 on Saturday (Indian time) to qualify for the semi-finals of the men’s football competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Jean-Philippe Mateta gave his team a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the match with a header, which remained intact until the end of the match. However, in the 83rd minute, Michael Olise scored a brilliant goal, which was ruled out as a foul. The ball reached Olise inside the box from the right flank. He took a shot which hit a defender and went into the goal. But this goal was disallowed as a foul. Despite this, the hosts maintained their composure for the final ten minutes of the match and secured the lead.

After winning the match, France’s center-back Loic Bade said, “It was an important match and we emerged victorious.”

It is worth noting that there was a lot of altercation between the players of both countries during the match and it turned into a fight at the end of the match, although everything returned to normal after the intervention of the match referee and officials.

France will face Egypt in the semi-finals on August 5, while Spain will face Morocco in the other semi-final match.
