Washington, May 2: A Pakistani national has been implicated in running an international human trafficking network, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The individual allegedly facilitated the entry of people into the United States through fake film production companies.
Court documents reveal that 49-year-old Abbas Ali Haider, a resident of Sialkot, has admitted to managing a network that transported Pakistani individuals to the U.S.-Mexico border via Latin America.
Prosecutors stated that Haider created two fictitious companies named “Diamond TV World Productions” and “Multimedia Advertising Limited.” Through these companies, he obtained visas for individuals under the guise of business travel.
Between September 2019 and September 2023, he secured visas for people traveling to Ecuador, Cuba, and Colombia, where they posed as employees working on film projects, while their actual intent was to reach the United States.
Authorities reported that these individuals were then transported to the southern U.S. border, from where they entered California, Texas, and Arizona illegally. Haider charged approximately $40,000 per person for this journey.
In July 2025, after being brought to the U.S. from Mexico, Haider pleaded guilty to conspiracy to illegally transport individuals into the country for profit. His sentencing is scheduled for July 30, with a potential prison term ranging from three to ten years, as determined by a federal court judge, considering U.S. law and other relevant factors.
This case has been investigated collaboratively by several U.S. agencies, including Border Patrol, the FBI, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Mexican agencies also assisted in the arrest and extradition process.
