Over 85,000 Pilgrims Visit Amarnath Cave in Four Days

Srinagar, July 7: The Amarnath Yatra has seen a remarkable turnout, with 85,779 pilgrims visiting the sacred cave of Baba Barfani within just four days of its commencement. On Monday alone, 28,818 devotees made their way to the cave to pay their respects. Officials report a steady increase in the number of visitors.

The pilgrimage, which began on July 3, continues with great enthusiasm. Despite heavy rainfall in several areas on Monday, pilgrims successfully reached the cave located at an altitude of 3,880 meters via both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. After their visit, the pilgrims returned safely to the Baltal base camp.

According to officials, it takes three to four days for most pilgrims traveling via the Pahalgam route to return to the Nunwan base camp in South Kashmir. This is why many prefer the Baltal route for their return, allowing them to reach the base camp on the same day.

The pilgrimage route is currently bustling with activity, as thousands of devotees from across the country gather at the base camps and various halting points, creating a vibrant atmosphere of religious fervor.

To facilitate the pilgrims, the administration has made extensive arrangements, providing all necessary amenities at both base camps and halting points along the route. Various social and religious organizations have set up langars, offering free meals to the travelers. Additionally, thousands of tents have been erected from Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam to the holy cave to ensure comfortable accommodations for the devotees.

In terms of safety, the administration has implemented a four-tier security system from the base camps to the sacred cave. The army and paramilitary forces are deployed in the higher areas and along both routes, while the CRPF is responsible for the security at the base camps. The Jammu and Kashmir police are also actively assisting in maintaining safety.

The administration has urged pilgrims to travel only according to their registered dates. Given the heavy crowd, any unregistered pilgrims or those arriving before their designated date will not be allowed access to either base camp.

Meanwhile, Jammu is witnessing a significant influx of pilgrims, with thousands arriving daily from various states. Long queues have been observed at registration and token counters at Tawi Riverfront, Ram Mandir, Old Mandi, and Gita Bhavan since Tuesday morning. However, the administration has made it clear that no unregistered pilgrim will be permitted to proceed to the Amarnath cave for darshan.
