New Delhi, March 9, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): OpenAI has introduced its new artificial intelligence model GPT-5.4, designed to handle complex professional tasks related to spreadsheets, documents, and presentations. The company said the latest model includes improvements in reasoning, coding, and office-related tasks.

GPT-5.4 is also the first model from OpenAI with built-in computer-use capability, allowing the AI system to operate a computer on behalf of users and work across multiple applications.
AI System Can Operate Computers
Artificial intelligence tools are rapidly evolving beyond answering questions and generating text. Companies are now working on systems that can perform tasks on computers in the same way humans do.
GPT-5.4 can generate code that helps it control a computer, send keyboard and mouse commands, and respond to screenshots to understand what is happening on the screen. This allows the AI system to determine the next steps and perform tasks across different software tools.
Currently, several AI companies are developing systems that work like digital agents, capable of completing tasks online or within applications. Some tools already allow systems to control computers to perform activities such as searching for products online or purchasing food items.
GPT-5.4 Thinking Model Introduced
OpenAI has also introduced a reasoning-focused version called GPT-5.4 Thinking. This version is being rolled out in ChatGPT and is designed to answer questions that require multiple stages of reasoning before reaching a conclusion.
Within ChatGPT, GPT-5.4 Thinking can show how it approaches and completes complex tasks. Users will also be able to manage their requests during the response generation process instead of restarting the process.
The new model highlights how AI tools are evolving from simply responding to prompts to performing tasks directly within software environments.
Availability
The GPT-5.4 Thinking model is currently available on the ChatGPT web app and Android devices. OpenAI said support for the iOS version of the app will be available soon.
The model is being rolled out for ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers. In addition, OpenAI is also launching GPT-5.4 Pro, which is designed to handle more complex tasks.
