Aurangabad : Former state chief minister and BJP’s Opposition leader in the state Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis on Monday accused the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state of having neglected development of Marathwada region.
Addressing the gathering of women self-help groups, agri companies and beneficiaries of various government schemes at Lasur station in Gangapur taluka, he claimed that ever since the MVA government came to power in the state two years ago, they have stopped all the development works in this region like Marathwada Water Grid and diverting excess rain water to the Godavari basin to tide over drought situation.
But the state government has done nothing on these projects over past two years, he alleged. He said that Rs 1,680 crore water pipeline project for Aurangabad had been sanctioned by his government but the ruling state government has not done work on it nor released funds for the same to the civic body, he claimed.
Talking about farmers, Fadnavis said that the MVA government has also failed to provide financial support in last two years when the farmers bore the brunt of natural calamities and added that time has come to rethink on the state government’s policies. On this occasion, he distributed various materials to the beneficiaries under the central government’s schemes.
