Mumbai, May 20: Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha visited a woman in Malvani, Malad, who alleged that illegal construction in front of her house was blocking her access, and that she was threatened by members of a particular community.
In a media interaction following the visit, Lodha stated that two Muslim youths were threatening the Hindu woman and assured that action would be taken against them. He highlighted that the slaughtering of animals within the building was also occurring without any permission, and police would act on this matter as well.
Lodha mentioned that there were already cases registered against the two youths for threatening the woman. He expressed concern over incidents where Hindus are allegedly being intimidated and forced to leave. Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad provided assistance at the site, and BJP workers filed a complaint with the police. Lodha has met with the police commissioner regarding the issue.
However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the First Information Report (FIR), stating that while it was filed, the appropriate sections were not applied. He insisted that the culprits should be arrested and emphasized the need to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Lodha remarked that everyone knows who has settled in the area and who has encroached on the land, asserting that the government would reclaim the land. He claimed that Hindus are being harassed with false complaints and that senior officials have been informed about the situation. He called for an end to pressure and intimidation, warning that they would return if no action was taken.
The victim reported that a person named Shaukat was preventing her from opening her door, which had been closed for nearly a year, as he intended to occupy it. She expressed her desire for no further obstacles in accessing her home.
