Niamey : 58 people died in a tanker after a crash in the Nigerian capital Niamey. After the truck was overturned, the crowd started collecting the leaking oil from it and then there was a blast.
Officials and eyewitnesses said that the explosion on the RN1 route near International Airport spread on the road, the pieces of truck, motorcycles and debris were burnt. Due to the fire, the nearby houses also damaged.
Nigerian President Mohamedo tweeted that more than 30 people were injured in this incident and 58 people died in the blast. A local businessman said, “When the motorcycle driver and the people were around the truck, there was a sudden explosion. I saw at least 40 dead bodies. Eyewitnesses said that the people were trying to collect the petrol which was leaking from the truck.
