Nepal celebrates 11th Republic Day

The main function was held at Army Pavilion in Kathmandu, which was attended by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister K.P.Sharma Oli , diplomats from various countries and other dignitaries.

President Bhandari and Prime Minister Oli has greeted people of Nepal on the occasion of Republic Day. In her message, President Bhandari said that this historic day will inspire and unite all Nepali people to work for the national integrity and prosperity through Federal Democratic Republic form of governance.

Prime Minister Oli in his message said that Republic is not limited to a word, it is a journey of prosperity and development to bring happiness in the lives of common people.

On May 28, 2008, the Constituent Assembly of the Himalayan nation declared Nepal a Federal Democratic Republic, abolishing the 240 year-old monarchy.
