New Delhi : The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of an attempt by some girl students of Chandigarh University to commit suicide due to alleged leak of an objectionable video.
NCW President Rekha Sharma has written to Punjab Director General of Police asking him to immediately register an FIR against the culprits amid the huge uproar over the issue. Rekha Sharma tweeted and said that she just spoke to the chairperson of Punjab Women’s Commission Manisha Gulati, the concerned SSP told them that there was no suicide and the accused made her own MMS and now a case is registered against her. She is in custody. She is investigating it further and will send a report.
Massive protests broke out on Sunday on Chandigarh University campus over rumours that several girl students had been recorded in objectionable videos. It was also alleged that some girl students attempted to commit suicide.
