September : Maruti Suzuki has added an automatic AMT transmission to the Swift CNG, giving buyers another option in the popular hatchback range. The new Swift VXI CNG AMT is priced at ₹7.92 lakh (ex-showroom), while the company claims a mileage of 35.34 km/kg.

The Swift is one of the best-selling hatchbacks in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio and is available with both petrol and CNG powertrains. With the addition of an AMT gearbox, customers can now choose the CNG version with an automatic transmission.
Maruti Swift CNG AMT Specifications
The Swift CNG AMT gets a 1,197cc engine. In petrol mode, it produces a maximum power of 82.93 PS at 5,700 rpm and peak torque of 112.4 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
In CNG mode, the engine produces 69.75 PS at 5,700 rpm and 101.8 Nm at 2,900 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed AMT transmission.
The car gets a 37-litre petrol tank and a 55-litre CNG tank. According to Maruti Suzuki, the Swift CNG AMT delivers a fuel efficiency of up to 35.34 km/kg. Actual mileage can vary depending on driving conditions.

New Z12-Series Engine
The Swift CNG AMT uses Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre Z12-series three-cylinder engine. The same engine is also used in the Dzire and Baleno.
The engine supports both the S-CNG system and automated manual transmission. The AMT system automatically manages clutch operation and gear changes, eliminating the need for the driver to operate a clutch pedal manually.
No Major Feature Changes
The company has focused the update on the mechanical setup, with the addition of the CNG AMT option. There are no reported changes to the car’s existing features.
The Swift continues to offer features such as a wireless charger, dual charging ports, rear AC vents, rear-view camera, automatic climate control and a 9-inch free-standing infotainment screen. The infotainment system also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
6 Airbags Offered as Standard
In terms of safety, the Swift gets six airbags as standard. Other safety features include three-point seatbelts for all seats, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and cruise control.
With the new CNG AMT option, Maruti Suzuki is offering customers a combination of automatic transmission and a claimed fuel efficiency of 35.34 km/kg in the Swift.
