Udaipur, June 4 – In a public hearing held at the District Council office on Wednesday, Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat addressed more than 40 grievances, taking immediate action on many citizen-centric issues. The event saw participation from residents of various villages, many of whom had come with concerns related to public services, land matters, and administrative irregularities.

Woman Donates Land for Anganwadi, Gets Legal Notice
One of the most striking cases during the hearing involved a tribal woman, Bhairki Meena, who had donated her private agricultural land for the construction of an Anganwadi centre in the Dhariawad region of Pratapgarh district. Shockingly, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) issued her a legal notice, questioning the construction of a non-agricultural structure (the Anganwadi) on agricultural land.
Terming the SDO’s action as unjust and harassing, MP Dr. Rawat wrote a formal letter to the Chief Minister and the Pratapgarh District Collector, demanding immediate disciplinary action. He also sought the issuance of a charge sheet and urgent transfer of the SDO, citing this as a clear case of misuse of administrative power and an attempt to damage the government’s image among citizens.
Highlights from the Jan Sunwai
During the hearing, several citizens presented their petitions:
-
Residents of Eklingpura submitted a memorandum opposing the proposed 150-feet widening of the Jhamarkotda Road. They requested the width be restricted to 100 feet and the acquisition be carried out towards the south side only.
-
Mangilal Rebari of Ladia ka Kheda (Tehsil Kurabad) requested regulation of a land allotment issued to him in 2008.
-
Tara Mali from Devli village (Patwar Mandal Sangwa, Tehsil Ghata) sought demarcation and restoration of a public access route under the state’s “Rasta Kholo Abhiyan”.
-
Residents of Sansada village demanded immediate removal of encroachments on the path leading from the government school to the river and cremation ground.
Repeated Complaints Against the SDO
In his letter, MP Rawat highlighted that multiple oral complaints have been received from locals against the SDO, alleging that the official regularly troubles citizens without justification. He emphasized that the treatment meted out to Bhairki Meena—a tribal woman who made a selfless donation for community welfare—was not just unfair but also a disservice to public interest.
Dr. Rawat concluded by urging the state government to take swift disciplinary action, ensuring that such bureaucratic excesses do not undermine the goodwill and cooperation of local citizens toward development projects.
