Maruti Suzuki Records Highest Sales in April with 33% Growth

New Delhi, May 1: Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car manufacturer, announced on Friday that it achieved its highest-ever sales in April, marking a strong start to the new financial year. This surge in sales is attributed to robust demand across all segments, particularly for small cars and SUVs.

The company sold a total of 239,646 vehicles in April, representing a 33.29% increase compared to 179,791 units sold in the same month last year.

Domestic sales also reached a record high of 191,122 units, up from 142,053 units a year ago, surpassing the previous record of 182,165 units set in December 2025.

The entry-level segment saw the most significant growth, with sales of mini cars, including models like Alto and S-Presso, rising to 16,066 units from 6,332 units in April last year.

The compact segment, which includes popular models such as Baleno, Swift, Dzire, and WagonR, also performed well, with sales increasing to 80,659 units from 61,912 units last year.

The company’s utility vehicle (SUV) segment maintained strong demand, with sales of models like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, and Grand Vitara rising to 77,892 units, compared to 59,022 units last year.

Meanwhile, sales of the light commercial vehicle ‘Super Carry’ remained stable at 3,418 units, slightly up from 3,349 units in April last year.

Exports also contributed significantly to the overall growth, with April exports rising to 40,054 units from 27,911 units a year earlier.

Earlier this month, the company reported that it achieved its highest annual production of 2.34 million units in the financial year 2025-26. With this achievement, Maruti Suzuki India became the first auto company in the country to record such high production in passenger vehicles.

The company has also set a target to increase its production to approximately 4 million units per year.
