Man hacks wife for demanding money to pay bills

Udaipur : Mohammed Arif, an ironsmith in Udaipur city has been arrested for hacking his wife Sherbano (31) on Tuesday morning. The victim, a mother of seven year old boy, survived with deep wounds on different parts of her body. ” We have arrested Arif while Sherbano was admitted in the ICU of the government hospital here. Her relatives desired to take her to Ahmedabad for treatment and hence after stitches, she has been referred there” Manish Charan, Circle Inspector Dhanmandi police station told Udaipur Kiran.

The shocking incident happened on Tuesday morning at Husaini Chowk in Dholi Bawdi area under Dhanmandi police station limit. ” Sherbano was Arif’s second wife and they have been married for ten years. After initial years of their marriage, the couple often fought because Arif didnt give any money to his wife for household expenses” the SHO informed. The couple had a big fight in the first week of this month after which Arif left for Delhi on November 6 without informing his wife. He returned on Sunday.

On Tuesday morning, Sherbano who was crossed with her husband for his irresponsible behaviour, demanded money to pay some utility bills. ” The woman was cleaning utensils when suddenly Arif hacked her with a sharp knife. He stabbed her on the neck several times and while the woman tried to save herself from the attack, she sustained severe cuts on her elbows. ” We have registered the case under section 307 of the IPC and an investigation is underway. The motive behind the attack is clear and now we have only to find the weapon used by Arif” the officer said.
