Magasa’s Late Strike Saves West Ham in 1-1 Draw Against Manchester United

Manchester, December 5 (Udaipur Kiran).

Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Thursday, missing the chance to climb to fifth position in the Premier League. With this result, West Ham remains in the relegation zone.

Both teams produced a lacklustre first half with no goals scored. Diogo Dalot put Manchester United ahead in the 58th minute with a well-taken goal. However, West Ham’s Soumaila Magasa scored a brilliant equaliser seven minutes from time, after which United fans were heard booing at the final whistle.

In the points table, Manchester United sits eighth with 22 points, while West Ham remains 18th with 12 points, two points behind 17th-placed Leeds United.

West Ham controlled possession well in the first thirty minutes but failed to create any real threat. United then found their rhythm as Bryan Mbeumo’s looping shot from distance was brilliantly tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Amad Diallo sent the ball into the box where Joshua Zirkzee shot with his thigh, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka made a superb goalline clearance. Moments later, Bruno Fernandes’ shot went just wide of the post.

Playing against his former club, Wan-Bissaka played a crucial role in West Ham’s defence, making several important tackles and preventing his team from conceding in the first half.

In the second half, Magasa once hit the side netting, but United finally took the lead in the 58th minute. A deflection off Casemiro’s shot fell to Dalot, who turned and sent the ball past Areola.

The match seemed headed towards a narrow United victory, but Jarrod Bowen’s header was blocked on the goalline by Mazraoui. From the rebound, Magasa fired home a powerful shot to level the score.

Both teams pushed for a winning goal in the final minutes, but Fernandes missed two opportunities. Due to their poor performance, Manchester United had to settle for a disappointing draw.
