Jhabua, October 20 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic accident in Semalkhedi Para village of Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh, late Sunday night cast a shadow over Diwali celebrations when a tractor-trolley plunged into a deep gorge at Datya Valley, killing three people, including two children, and injuring 22 others.

According to police, the incident occurred as villagers were returning home after shopping at a local weekly ‘Haat’ market for Diwali festivities. The driver reportedly lost control of the tractor, causing it to skid off the road and fall into the valley, leading to severe injuries among the passengers.
The deceased have been identified as Sepu Singh Dindor (25), Kamlesh Dindor (8), and Anil Dindor (12) — all residents of the same village.
Two of the critically injured were shifted to Dahod in Gujarat for advanced medical treatment, while the remaining 20 victims are being treated at community health centres in Para and Jhabua. The injured sustained injuries ranging from minor bruises to serious fractures, and rescue operations were hampered by darkness and the difficult terrain.
The injured have been identified as Sunita Dindor, Vitya Dindor, Bhawar Dindor, Nazma, Bhagala, Shivani, Ashok, Vishnu, Aashish, Rajni, Sana, Devak Singh, Raghu, Leela Rashmi, Sapna, Baan Singh, Najbai, Ranjit, Manisha, Kamna, and Karan.
Preliminary investigation suggests that overloading and driver negligence may have caused the accident. Local authorities have launched a probe to determine the exact reason behind the mishap.
District officials expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured financial aid and support under the state disaster relief scheme.
