Lovers Set on Fire in Dudu, Both Critical

Dudu, November 29 (Udaipur Kiran): A shocking incident was reported late Friday night from the Mokhampura area, where a young man and woman were set on fire after petrol was poured on them. The attack is allegedly linked to their love relationship, and the accused are said to be their own family members. Both victims suffered nearly 60–70 percent burn injuries and are currently admitted in critical condition at SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

The incident took place in Badolav village of Mokhampura. At around 1 am, the युवक was present with the युवती at his field when a group of people surrounded them. It is alleged that the assailants poured petrol on the couple and set them on fire after seeing them together.

While engulfed in flames, the युवक ran and shouted for help to save his life. People nearby showed courage and rescued both victims from the fire. The police were immediately informed.

DSP Deepak Khandelwal said that police reached the spot after receiving information around 1 am. The injured were first taken to the Bichoon CHC and later referred to SMS Hospital, Jaipur, due to their critical condition. Both have sustained 60–70 percent burns.

After the incident, Dudu ASP Shivalal Bairwa, DSP Deepak Khandelwal, and the Mokhampura police station team reached the spot and inspected the scene. The FSL team also collected evidence from the field to ascertain the facts behind the incident.

DSP Khandelwal said that the case appears to be related to a love affair in the preliminary investigation. Some suspects have been taken into custody and are being questioned. Statements of both victims will be recorded once their condition improves to determine the exact cause of the incident. Police are investigating the matter seriously.
