Bhopal, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): The spell of monsoon showers continues in Madhya Pradesh before its withdrawal. On Sunday, Bhopal and more than 20 districts recorded rainfall. The state capital received around 2.5 inches of rain, while Betul recorded over 2 inches. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rainfall in several districts on Monday as well.
According to the weather office, active weather systems will bring light rain to many parts of the state over the next three days, while the Gwalior-Chambal region is likely to remain dry. No heavy rainfall alert has been issued. On Sunday, rainfall was reported in Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Narmadapuram, Pachmarhi, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Shajapur, Sehore, Chhindwara, Damoh, Satna, Seoni, and Balaghat districts. Sheopur and Seoni recorded around 1.5 inches of rainfall.
In Bhopal, heavy rain in the evening slowed traffic on the Bhopal-Indore Road. Due to increased water levels, one gate each of Bhadbhada and Kaliasot dams was opened late at night. Intermittent rainfall continued across several districts till late night.
So far, the monsoon has withdrawn from 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Agar-Malwa, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Ratlam. It has also partially withdrawn from parts of Rajgarh and Ashoknagar. The weather department expects complete withdrawal from the remaining districts by October 10. Until then, light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in several regions.
