Udaipur : Ravindra Jain, the Joint Director of the Commercial Tax Department, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 8 lakh rupees. The Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrda, reported the incident. Jain demanded the bribe in exchange for not acting on a GST survey report and facilitating an Input Tax Credit (ITC) claim for a complainant.
The complaint was filed by a resort owner, who was repeatedly harassed by Jain to pay the bribe. The ACB’s Udaipur intelligence unit, led by Police Inspector Dr. Sonu Shekhawat, verified the complaint and conducted a trap operation. Jain was arrested with the bribe amount, comprising 1 lakh in real currency and 7 lakh in dummy currency. Further investigations are underway to determine the roles of other officials and employees in this case.
