Mumbai, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): Reliance Jio has once again disrupted the telecom market — this time with a bold AI-powered offer that directly challenges Airtel’s recent partnership with Perplexity. In collaboration with Google, Jio is offering free access to Gemini 2.5 Pro for its eligible users, marking a major step in the growing AI race between India’s top telecom players.
Earlier this year, Airtel partnered with Perplexity AI to provide a 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription to select customers. Market watchers expected Jio to collaborate with OpenAI, but instead, the company surprised everyone by teaming up with Google’s Gemini — a move seen as both strategic and forward-looking.
How Jio Users Can Get Gemini 2.5 Pro for Free
Eligible Jio users can activate the offer through the MyJio app. Currently, the offer is open to Jio users aged between 18 and 25 who are subscribed to an unlimited 5G plan. Users simply need to log into the MyJio app and check for the Gemini 2.5 Pro banner; if visible, they can instantly claim the offer.
Jio has confirmed that the benefit will soon expand to a broader user base. The Gemini 2.5 Pro subscription, which normally costs Rs 1,950 per month, will be free for 18 months, offering a total value of around Rs 35,100.
The plan includes enhanced AI tools such as:
Veo 3.1 and Nano Banana models for creating advanced images and videos,
Expanded access to Notebook LM for research and study, and
2TB of Google Cloud storage.

Interestingly, OpenAI has also entered the Indian market, announcing free ChatGPT Go access worth Rs 399 per month for a year starting November 4, 2025. With Google and Perplexity joining forces with Indian telecom giants, and OpenAI going direct-to-consumer, the Indian AI market is witnessing an unprecedented wave of competition.
