Mumbai, May 17: BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh sharply responded to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s remarks questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign tours. Chugh emphasized that Modi’s international visits are not for leisure but serve the interests of 1.4 billion Indians and the country’s future. He stated that each of these tours brings billions in investment to India and creates millions of job opportunities.
Chugh criticized Mann, asserting that those who squander Punjab’s public funds on luxury and use state aircraft like taxis have no moral right to question the Prime Minister’s foreign trips. He pointed out the rising drug problem in Punjab, farmer suicides, and the deteriorating law and order situation, accusing Mann of being preoccupied with political rhetoric instead of addressing these pressing issues.
He remarked that while Modi is transforming national challenges into opportunities, the opposition is merely making excuses. Mann had previously mocked Modi’s six-day international trip, asking why the Prime Minister doesn’t “work from home.”
Chugh also targeted the Congress and opposition regarding Pakistan and terrorism, stating that under Modi’s leadership, ‘New India’ believes in decisive action against terrorism rather than just filing dossiers. He asserted that the Indian Army has been given full autonomy to make decisions for national security, and even enemy nations now fear India’s military strength. He referenced the Army Chief’s warning that India responds to every terrorist attack in a language that Pakistan understands.
In Hyderabad, BJP leader T.R. Srinivasa remarked that Modi conveyed a significant message to the world during his five-day foreign tour. He warned that if the current wars and global tensions do not cease soon, the world could face severe crises related to supply chains, food security, and energy security. He noted that Modi’s message is profound and has far-reaching implications, which the global community is taking seriously.
