Jaipur Continues to Experience Light Rain, Alert Issued for 15 Districts

Jaipur, 9th August (Udaipur Kiran) – The northeastern regions of Rajasthan are currently under the influence of a weather system, causing the monsoon to remain active in several districts. Continuous rainfall has been reported across various areas, with Bharatpur, Karauli, Dholpur, Jaipur, Alwar, and Dausa receiving up to six inches of rain on Thursday. In Karauli, the Panchna Dam has begun receiving water again, leading to the reopening of three gates.

Weather experts have issued a rain alert for 15 districts today, predicting light to moderate rainfall, with some areas experiencing heavy downpours over the next three to four days. In Jaipur and surrounding regions, as well as in the Kotputli-Behror district, light rain has been ongoing since Friday morning.

In Ajmer, the rain continued for the fifth consecutive day, with light showers reported in the city and surrounding areas since the morning. Additionally, a three-story dilapidated building collapsed in the Kesar Ganj area, but fortunately, no one was present at the time of the incident.

The Panchna Dam in Karauli is currently releasing 4,000 cusecs of water through its three gates, with the dam’s water level at 258.15 meters, close to its maximum gauge of 258.62 meters. The heaviest rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Nadbai, Bharatpur, with 160 mm (six inches) of rain.

Several other areas also experienced significant rainfall, including Mahua in Dausa (134 mm), Viratnagar in Jaipur (103 mm), Kotputli (64 mm), and multiple locations in Alwar district.

The director of the Meteorological Center, Radheshyam Sharma, reported that a circulation system has formed over southern Haryana, and the monsoon trough line is in a normal position. Rainfall activities are expected to continue across eastern Rajasthan over the next five to seven days. Heavy rainfall is predicted in parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions, with isolated very heavy rainfall possible. Rainfall activity is expected to increase in parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions on August 9th and 10th.

Jaipur city has been experiencing cloudy weather and intermittent light rain for five consecutive days. The pleasant weather, coupled with Friday being a holiday, has led to a surge in visitors to tourist spots across the city. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for light to moderate rain in Jaipur and surrounding areas, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some locations.

Orange alerts have also been issued for Dausa, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Karauli districts. Yellow alerts have been issued for Nagaur, Ajmer, Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Tonk, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bhilwara, and Bundi districts, indicating the possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder.
