India’s premier space agency, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is poised for a transformative year in 2025, with a slew of ambitious missions and critical technological advancements lined up. The agenda includes the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDex), key developments in the Gaganyaan human spaceflight program, the launch of NISAR, and India’s first-ever privately built PSLV. These initiatives underline ISRO’s commitment to bolstering India’s global standing in the space industry and advancing its domestic capabilities.

SpaDex and NVS-02 to Kickstart 2025
ISRO’s year will begin with the highly anticipated Space Docking Experiment (SpaDex), scheduled for January 7, 2025. This mission aims to demonstrate in-orbit docking capabilities, a critical step for future modular spacecraft and on-orbit refueling missions. Successfully executing SpaDex will be a significant milestone, enhancing India’s ability to conduct complex space operations in orbit.
Following SpaDex, ISRO plans to launch NVS-02, a replacement satellite for India’s NavIC navigation system, later in January. NISAR and Private PSLV: Strengthening Global Collaboration
