Imphal : Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbanand Sonowal on Sunday said India has now achieved self-reliance and got a respectable place in Asia as also the world after Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister in 2014. “India now occupies a good position on the global stage,” said Sonowal, addressing an election meeting at Wabagai.
The BJP government at the centre has worked to provide connectivity, development, and better standards of education. The BJP is the only party that can provide peace and development in the country, he said. The development in technology and various schemes for farmers, youths, women, Dalit, scheduled caste and scheduled tribes were taken up under Modi, he said. “India has now achieved self-reliance,” he said. Refering to Manipur, he said the Northeastern state should contribute to India’s development story with its large number of talented youths and sportspersons.
Manipur has seen five years of development because of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Sonowal said Manipur experienced bandh and curfew during the Congress rule and the moment people removed that party from power and installed a BJP government, the state witnessed peace and development.
